HOPE AND DIGNITY UGANDA (HDU)
Hope and Dignity Uganda is an indigenous non government organization which provides a forum for the poorest and marginalized children in Uganda. Hope and dignity Uganda:
1. Works together for the improvement for the socio economic livelihoods.
2. Campaign for the respect of their rights to education as equal members in society.
Hope and Dignity was established in Uganda as a result of the growing number of orphans in the country. Orphans in the country experience severe discrimination related to poverty. Their situations are often exacerbated by HIV Aids, which leads to no medication, poor feeding and no education (basic necessities of life).
In many cases, orphans are extracted from their communities and are seldom given any opportunity to participate in social activities. Hope and Dignity Uganda assessments have identified communities in Uganda where almost half of all families have orphans.
Hope and dignity campaigns to achieve equality of opportunities for all orphans regardless of tribe, race, nationality gender or religion
It is promoting the welfare and developments of orphans in their communities. The primary objective of this project is to undertake and ensure that marginalized and poor orphans and less privileged children in Uganda have a better life.
In general, most orphans and less privileged children in Uganda live in miserable and painfully poor conditions. Many lack the essential needs of life such as food, shelter, clothing and education. Such children die young because they can not even access adequate medical services. Some of the children because of a poor back ground can not perform well and such children shall be helped better by acquiring vocational practical skills.
